Configure Aurora PostgreSQL database

pgAdmin

In this section, we configure the Aurora PostgreSQL database through pgAdmin. pgAdmin is a popular and feature rich open-source administration and development platform for PostgreSQL. pgAdmin may be used on Linux, Unix, macOS and Windows to manage PostgreSQL database. It may be run either as a web or a desktop application.

  1. From the Blu Age EC2 instance, launch pgAdmin 4 under PostgreSQL 11 (via. Windows start menu).

  1. When prompted, enter password VerySecret and click OK.

  1. Upon successful login, right click on the Servers:
    • Select Create
    • Select Server…

Add Aurora-PostgreSQL DB

  1. In the Create-Server window, enter server name ba-murach-db-aurora

  1. Click on Connection tab
    • Host name: Aurora writer endpoint captured in the previous section
    • Initial database name: murachs
    • Password: postgres
    • Click Save

If you receive a time-out error then verify the ‘endpoint, database name, password and the security group configuration’ for your EC2 instance.

  1. Expand ba-murach-db-aurora, then Databases PG-Admin-DB-List

  2. Notice the murachs database configured in our Aurora instance as shown by the pgAdmin.
