Create database schema

In this section, we are going to create the database schema for Blu Age JICS and Murach application.

JICS schemas are equivalent to the PCT, PPT, FCT tables in the mainframe CICS environment. Murach schemas are the application entries into the PCT, PPT and FCT tables.

JICS Components:

  1. Execute the following steps to create JICS infrastructure tables for the Murach application to run:

    • Navigate to C:\WorkShop\JicsConfig
    • Open JicsConfig.sql (double click to open)
    • Copy all the SQLs (these SQLs build JICS infrastructure tables)

JICS Infrastructure SQLs

  1. Go to pgAdmin and select the murachs database.

    • From the menu bar, select Tools -> Query Tool
    • Paste the JICS infrastructure SQL queries copied in the previous step (3rd bullet point)
    • Click Execute/Refresh icon

    Note SQL statements should execute successfully. You can ignore any notice messages.

Run JICS Infrastructure queries

Murach Components:

  1. Execute the following steps to upload the Murach application CICS system definitions into the JICS Infrastructure tables.

    • Navigate to C:\WorkShop\JicsConfig
    • Open init-jics.sql (double click to open)
    • Copy all the SQLs (these SQLs upload CICS system definitions into the JICS Infrastructure tables)

Murach application queries

  1. Go to pgAdmin and select the database murachs database.

    • From the menu bar, select Tools -> Query Tool
    • Paste the Murach application SQLs queries copied in the previous step (3rd bullet point)
    • Click Execute/Refresh icon

    Note SQL statements should execute successfully. You can ignore any notice messages.

Run Murach application queries

Executing above SQL statements should result in creating 10 tables under murachs database.
